Can Fix-a-Flat ruin my tire?
No. Fix-a-Flat will not cause harm to most tires when used as directed on the label.
Is Fix-a-Flat flammable?
No. Fix-a-Flat is a non-flammable formula.
How long does Fix-a-Flat last?
Fix-a-Flat has a shelf life of 2 years from the date manufactured. For a period of 90 days from date of purchase, the manufacturer guarantees this product will meet the specifications when used as directed.
How do I safely dispose of an old, expired can of Fix-a-Flat?
Fix-a-Flat is an aerosol, much like whipped cream, hairspray and spray paint. And despite the environmentally-friendly nature of the Fix-a-Flat formula, no matter what product is in an aerosol container, it is considered a hazardous material until it is completely empty.
If your can of Fix-a-Flat is full, please take it (and all other aerosol products) to your local hazardous waste collection site. If your can of Fix-a-Flat is empty, it can be placed in a recycling bin (depending on your local recycling program). How can I tell when my can of Fix-a-Flat was manufactured?
The current product date stamp on your yellow can should look like this: 17312 AT 0054
- The first 2 digits tell you the year that the product was manufactured (2017)
- The next 3 digits tell you the day of the year that the product was manufactured (the 312th day of the year)
- The next set of letters and numbers is batch code information for internal use
In this case, the date of manufacture November 7, 2017. The can would be good until November of 2019. If the number stamped onto the bottom does not follow this format, the product was manufactured prior to 2011.
Will using Fix-a-Flat void my tire warranty?
Warranties vary by tire manufacturer. Contact your tire manufacturer for specific details.
Where is the best place to store my can of Fix-a-Flat?
The best place to store a Fix-a-Flat can is in the spare tire well or trunk. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND STORING FIX-A-FLAT IN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE (INCLUDING GLOVE BOXES OR HATCHBACKS).
Can Fix-a-Flat freeze?
Yes. If the temperature falls below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, Fix-a-Flat will freeze. The product in the can is not damaged and may be used after thawing (we recommend warming the can using your vehicle’s interior heater vent). If the product is in the tire, and freezing weather is predicted, then immediately take the vehicle to a qualified tire professional for repair.
Can I store Fix-a-Flat in my trunk on a hot day?
It is not recommended to store Fix-a-Flat in temperatures over 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
Can Fix-a-Flat be used to seal my air mattress, football, basketball or inflatable pool?
No. Fix-A-Flat is not recommended for those applications. Fix-a-Flat is recommended for use on automotive vehicle tires only.
Some Fix-a-Flat got on the wheel while I was filling my tire. How can I remove it?
While Fix-a-Flat is in a liquid state, it is water soluble and can be removed with a paper towel, rag or preferably, soap and water. Once it has dried, Fix-a-Flat must be removed using odorless mineral spirits (normally available at hardware stores or art supply stores).
How do I remove the odor of Fix-a-Flat from upholstery or carpet?
If the product is wet, it you can clean it off any surface with a rag or a towel. We suggest you follow up with odorless mineral spirits to remove any remaining odor. Let the affected item air dry to allow the odor to dissipate. We also recommend properly disposing of the excess Fix-a-Flat and saturated rags after cleanup.
Can my tire be repaired after using Fix-a-Flat?
Yes, there is nothing in the formulation that would prevent a tire from being repaired. Advise the tire repair professional that you have used the Fix-a-Flat brand tire inflator in your tire, so they may properly clean the tire for repair. Fix-a-Flat cleans up easily with soapy water and a shop rag. Warranties vary by tire manufacturer. Contact your tire manufacturer for specific details.
Can Fix-a-Flat be added to a tire to balance it?
No. We do not recommend using Fix-a-Flat for this purpose.
What is Fix-a-Flat?
Fix-a-Flat is a tire repair aerosol that quickly and easily gets you back on the road in minutes after a flat tire emergency. With the push of a button, Fix-a-Flat repairs and inflates your flat tire. Safe and easy to use, Fix-a-Flat seals up to ¼” punctures in size, without the use of a jack or tools.
How does Fix-a-Flat work?
The famous yellow Fix-a-Flat can contains both a liquid tire sealant and a small amount of air. When you push the button, the air in the can forces the tire sealant into your tire. Once inside your tire, the sealant seeks out the puncture and seals it up, while your tire continues to fill with enough air to get the rim off the ground.

How much Fix-a-Flat should I use?

What supplies should I have on hand when installing Fix-a-Flat?
You should always wear protective eye gear when installing Fix-a-Flat. Other suggested supplies (if handy at the time) would be a small soapy rag to wipe up any spills, and a tire inflator to inflate your tire to full air pressure.
Does the tire have to be completely flat before I use Fix-a-Flat?
Please make sure that your tire is as flat as possible before attempting to install Fix-a-Flat. If there is air in your tire, it will push the sealant out, rather than allow the sealant to inject into your tire and seal the puncture.
Should I add more air once I have used Fix-a-Flat to repair my tire?
Yes. Fix-a-Flat will seal punctures up to ¼” and will fill the tire with enough air pressure to get you back on the road. Immediately, drive the car for at least 2 to 4 miles and visit a gas station (or use a tire inflator) to fill your tire with the proper amount of air pressure as soon as possible. Visit a qualified tire professional at the earliest opportunity for a permanent repair or replacement.
How long does Fix-a-Flat work? Do I need to get a patch/plug repair for my tire, or can I leave Fix-a-Flat in there permanently?
As stated on the can, it is important to have your tire inspected and repaired within 3 days or 100 miles (whichever comes first). Be sure to notify the qualified tire care professional that Fix-a-Flat has been installed. At the time the affected tire is inspected by a tire care professional, they should clean the sealant from the tire, prepare the area and repair with a U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) approved patch/plug.
Will Fix-a-Flat damage my tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS)?
No. Fix-a-Flat is tire sensor safe. After the qualified tire repair professional has repaired your tire, they should clean the TPMS device with water to remove any sealant that may have come into contact with the device. After the repaired tire is replaced and inflated, the TPMS system can be reset and will resume operating as normal.
Can I use a can of Fix-a-Flat to treat multiple tires?
Each can of Fix-a-Flat is intended to be fully dispensed into one tire. We do not recommend using a single can on more than one tire.
What specific tires can Fix-a-Flat be used on?
Fix-a-Flat is designed to be used in automotive highway tires (Cars, trucks, SUVs, etc.). Fix-a-Flat should not be used in tires on motorcycles, ATVs, tractors, lawnmowers, bicycles, scooters, golf carts, etc.
Do I have to create an account?
No. You can check out as a guest if you do not want to create an account. But creating an account has many benefits, see below.
What are the benefits of having an account?
With an account, you can more easily check the status of your order, track shipping, view past orders, process a return and securely store your payment methods.

How can I place an order?

What payment types do you support?
We currently support all major credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. We do not accept PayPal, Bitcoin, cash, mail orders or purchase orders.
How do I know if the product I want is in stock?
If the product displays the option to Add to Cart, then the product is in stock. If a product is out of stock, the product page will say Out of Stock and you will not be able to add it to your shopping cart.
How do your discount codes work?
If you have an applicable discount code, simply enter it into the discount code field in the checkout screen and hit apply. Some discounts, such as free shipping on orders over $30 are applied automatically and do not require a discount code. Discount codes do not stack (one per order).
Can I make changes or cancel my order?
It depends. We work hard to process our orders and get them out the door to you as quickly as possible. Once the order reaches the processing stage, it cannot be changed. Please contact us at 888-457-5463 to inquire about whether you are within the timeframe to change or cancel an order.
When will my order ship?
Orders ship out of our Ohio warehouse Monday through Friday. Orders placed before 12 noon will ship out that same business day. Orders placed after 12 noon will ship out the next business day. Please note: orders placed on Friday after 12 noon will not be processed until the following Monday.
What countries do you ship to?
We currently ship to the domestic United States and Canada. International shipments, as well as shipments to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, are not yet supported.
When will my order arrive?
In-stock items typically arrive 3-4 business days after they ship.
Can I track my order?
Yes. Once your order ships, you will receive an email with tracking information.
How much does it cost to ship my order in the United States?
Fix-a-Flat offers FREE U.S. standard shipping on orders over $30. This discount will be applied automatically to all applicable orders. For orders less than $30, the following rates apply: Standard ground shipping (typically arrives in 3-4 business days): $8.00
Why can I only select ground shipping for my order?
Fix-a-Flat products are aerosols and cannot ship by air. Per United States shipping regulations, they can only ship ground.
Can I combine two orders?
It depends on when the order was placed. Please contact us at 888-457-5463 to inquire about combining two orders.
Can you split an order and ship it to multiple locations?
Unfortunately, we cannot ship to multiple locations at this time.
Can I change my shipping address on a recently placed order?
Once the order has been processed, the shipping address cannot be changed. Please contact us at 888-457-5463 to see if your order has been processed.
What if my item arrives damaged?
Please visit our Returns & Exchanges help section for more information about damaged products.
Can I return a product?
We accept returns within 90 days of purchase. We only accept returns for items placed through our online website. Products purchased in store need to be returned to that store. Items must be in original condition, including packaging, in order to be returned. If Fix-a-Flat made an error, we will send you a pre-paid shipping label to cover the return shipping costs. If the return is not due to our error, the customer will be responsible for all return shipping costs.
Can I get a refund or exchange my product?
If the item is received back to us in an unused condition and original packaging, we will refund your credit card for the amount purchased. We do not offer product exchanges at this time. Please allow 2-4 weeks for refunds to be processed.
How do I return a product?
Please email email@example.com to begin the returns process. Please include the name and part number of the product you are trying to return, as well as your reason why. A Fix-a-Flat representative will be in touch within 48 hours.
Are there any products that I can’t return?
We currently don’t accept returns on Sales or Clearance items.
